What is a highly sensitive person?

A Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) is someone who has a deeply responsive nervous system, meaning they process emotions, sensory input, and social cues more intensely than the average person. This trait, known as Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS), is completely normal and found in about 15–20% of the population, across all cultures according to Dr Elaine Aron.

Observed in highly sensitive people are the following:
• Feel emotions deeply and empathise strongly with others
• Notice subtle details and shifts in their environment
• Become overwhelmed in busy or chaotic settings
• Need more time for rest, reflection, and recovery
• Have rich inner lives and strong intuition

Being highly sensitive isn’t a disorder or weakness—it's a temperament trait. And while it can come with challenges (like overstimulation or emotional burnout), it also brings strengths: creativity, empathy, insight, and a deep capacity for connection.

Our intersectional lens

What sets us apart is our recognition of the many forces that pull sensitive people away from their true selves, such as childhood trauma, systemic injustice, cultural shame, and overwhelming environments. By addressing these root disconnections, we create a safe, affirming space for sensitive individuals to reclaim their inner power, rediscover their voice, and reconnect with the wisdom of their sensitivity.

Our approaches

  • Honouring ancestral wisdom and diverse ways of healing beyond Western models.

  • Creating space for every layer of your identity to be seen and affirmed.

  • Acknowledging that healing is both personal and political.

  • Supporting the whole person: mind, body, and spirit.

  • Cultivating deep self-kindness and inner resilience.

  • A community that truly made me feel truly seen.
