Constant disappointment can chip away at your soul. When you’re so used to getting your hopes up only to be disappointed, it makes sense why you’d struggle to open up and let people in. You’ve learned that being vulnerable is unsafe.
I know how challenging it can be to constantly feel like things always take a turn for the worst. I know how it feels to be vulnerable in relationships (romantic, family and friendship), only to be betrayed. I know how it feels to want to close myself off from everyone and keep to myself.
In my recent reflections on disappointment, it’s been helpful to remind myself of two things: 1) Not everyone will treat me like those who betrayed me in the past. Some people genuinely have my best interest at heart. 2) By closing myself off, I may potentially shut out the good that’s for me.
Today, I want to remind you that there are people out there in the world who will give you the love and respect that you deserve. Not everything good will take a turn for the worst. Not everything comes with a catch-22.
If we constantly anticipate that things won’t work out, we are likely to create a self-fulfilling prophecy. What we continue to believe will show up in our lives. With that being said, the solution isn’t to discard your reservations about people. The key is to use your experiences to improve your discernment next time. Your past experiences hold insights that can help you with future challenges.
In this life, people are bound to disappoint us. Whilst it can be devastating, we can find reassurance in knowing that no matter what, we will be there for ourselves. And if we need to, we can reach out and get help to work through our pain. We don’t need to struggle alone.
Also, remember that whoever is for you will be! If you are yet to experience the loving relationships you desire, know that the divine is getting them prepared to receive you. It’s only a matter of time. What’s coming your way will be a divine match for you. Keep affirming that into existence.
Don’t turn into the things that hurt you. Choose to remain loving. Your soul operates from love. Your soul IS love. Your soul IS abundant. Your soul IS expansive. Stay loyal to your true nature. You will attract a match to your frequency eventually.
Anyways, keep being the loving person you are. I appreciate it and I know someone out there in the universe does too.
