Lessons I’ve learned in 2020

Hello guys,

I hope you’re all well and staying safe!

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on my blog. I’ve missed you all and can’t wait to catch up on all the amazing posts. This year has been heavy for the collective but in many ways a blessing for some of us. This is the first time in years that I’ve had the opportunity to truly pause and be present. I’ve taken full advantage of this opportunity and used my time to rest, play, and delve into my passions. I’m looking forward to blogging more consistently in 2021 as I have so much I want to share with you all.

Anyhoo, back to the topic. I want to share with you some lessons I’ve learned from 2020. Around this time of year, I spend time digesting what has happened throughout the year. This year is different because even though there hasn’t been much physical movement, the lessons I’ve learned this year have been profound.

Here are five lessons I’ve learned from 2020:

  1. You can’t control everything-  No matter how much you think you are in control, you can’t predict the future. Covid-19 has been a harsh reminder that life can change at any given moment. Whilst it’s important to make plans, there’s always something unpredictable that can happen. It’s important to be flexible and stay present in the moment.
  2. We need to pause more often- Quarantine forced me to pause. Having the space to think and evaluate life allowed me to put so much into perspective. I realized that I was doing a lot of things that were disrupting my joy. Pausing helps you to stay present and make decisions that are in alignment with your highest and greater good.
  3. We are chasing other people’s definition of success- When you live on autopilot, you can end up living your life according to other people’s needs and desires. I realized during lockdown that I was living according to other people’s definitions of success. There were so many things I was doing that paused during quarantine that I realized weren’t serving me. This period has forced me to ask myself whether the things that I want were truly what I desire for my life. As a result, I am currently on a journey to remove anything from my life that’s stealing my joy and peace.
  4. We need to talk about death- A lot of people have lost their lives due to Covid-19. This year has forced us to deal with the reality of death like never before. Even though death is an inevitability, it’s something that we often avoid talking about because it’s painful and uncomfortable. I think this year has allowed us to move closer towards normalizing talking about death.
  5. Health is precious– Covid-19 has been a reality check for many of us. It’s become important more than ever to look after our physical health. This year was the first time I saw more collective conversations around boosting our immune systems. Even though Covid-19 doesn’t discriminate, it’s reminded us that we need to take our health seriously. Health is wealth and can’t be taken for granted.

A reminder: You made it through 2020! Never forget how much of a blessing it is.

Question: What lessons have you learned from 2020?

I’d love to hear from you!

Love Ash, x

  1. One thing to add is that most probably, there is no ” death ” but just transition from one life form or span into another . We are eternal spirits having a temporary human experience to become more conscious . Life is like a dream to wake up from sooner or later to get in more proximity to our divine source.
We transform with the divine flow of life…

  2. Sometimes , I feel like some DeJa vu experiences that translate in French to already seen experiences . When I was like 3 or 4 years old , I would feel like being normal to see views or listen to music from, Europe China , India and Japan because it seems I have been there in previous life spans .
The only true reality is the now here timeless spaceless formless and indefinite but everything else is a fleeting image that changes in and out of different forms and energies …

  3. Lovely post …

  4. Success is inseparable from fullfilment, inner peace and ecstacy …

  6. I resonated with your 5 learnings from 2020. In a way 2020 is a reality check.

    1. Thank you! I’m glad you resonate with them. It definitely was a reality check for many of us – a necessary one. <3

  7. All of these are really powerful lessons to take away but especially number 3! I think 2020 has called all to really question what they’re living for and who/what they’re doing most of their activities for. I’d say that one of the greatest lessons I’ve learned in 2020 was just to really focus on myself. I’d been living as a sort of servant – of my own doing – of others, and expecting them to somehow anticipate my needs whenI should have been giving myself my needs first, then offering whatevers left to others. Wasn’t really brought on by the pandemic but I learned it! lol!

    1. Hey Sierra, thank you for sharing and reading my post! I totally resonate with you. It felt like 2020 forced many of us to slow down and made us realise that we were navigating life being in tune with everyone else’s programme and not our own. I’m glad you learned a lot and have been able to implement those lessons in your daily life. <3

  8. Wow, you have gleaned a LOT of good wisdom from these difficult times! God really does take the difficult things and bring good out of them, teaching our hearts things that will be foundational for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much for sharing what you have learned.

    1. Hey Jennifer, thank you so much. I’m so glad you resonate with my work and it’s my pleasure! And yes absolutely, so much good can come out of the difficult things we experience. It can really help us and others. Have an amazing day <3

      1. You too, Ash! And a super blessed weekend! 🙂 💖

  9. For me it is noticing what’s around me and paying more attention, being present.

    1. I love that! I totally resonate with that too- had so much time to pause and truly be present. Thank you for sharing Anna <3

  10. 2020 was definitely different for all of us. It made walking into 2021 even more worth it. The biggest lesson that I learned was being present for myself and not expecting others to complete my happiness. I went through one of the roughest break ups of my life in 2020 and it has been such a blessing to reconnect with who I truly am and extend myself self love.

    1. Hi Kimbria, thanks for sharing! I love that you’ve learned to be present and I totally resonate with you regarding the breakup. Breakups are tough but they’re such an amazing opportunity to connect with self and practice self-love. I’m glad you’ve taken so much out of 2020. I hope 2021 brings you peace and transformation. <3
